Tom Bold spent his early years growing up in the Chicago Illinois area and has always had a love of nature. An avid hiker most of his life, he moved to Northern California in the 1980's and discovered the beauty of its landscape.

The past several years Tom has been leading hikes and wine adventures in Northern California introducing many to the great outdoors and his favorite spots. He creates fun, community and reconnects us all with nature.

A Bold Journey has received an Excellence Award from the Documentaries Without Borders International Film Festival. Thank you for recognizing our film.

A Bold Journey has been selected in the Touchstone Independent Film Festival. Grateful for this opportunity to share Tom's story.

Hiking with Tom is always an adventure you never have the same experience twice. He is a true maverick before mavericks were cool. I found his independent spirit, resilience and ability to create community so inspiring that I reached out and asked him if I could tell his story. I hope you enjoy A Bold Journey.

A Bold Journey was three years in production. We began January 2020 and got sidelined several times with  pandemic restrictions for travel, indoor filming and crew. I want to thank all of the crew for their patience, talent and commitment to telling Tom's story. 

One of my favorite characters in Tom's story is nature itself. The redwoods, lakes, waterfalls and forests. Tom's longevity seems to be bound with nature. I hope Tom's story will be an invitation to reconnect with nature and find peace and solitude under her sky.
